Pair of Centaurs in patinated bronze standing on ebonized wood stand.
Period : XVIII th century
The Centaurs are reductions of the original ones in marble. They were found by cardinal Giuseppe Alessandro Furietti (1685-1764) during the excavation of the Villa Hadriana in Tivoli in 1736. The centaurs in marble were already a version of Greek bronze statues.
